Fujita Health Univeristy Hospital installs UIH 2nd PET CT

“The wind is blowing from Shanghai to Nagoya” said Professor Jun Hatazawa, the former Chairman of Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine. Time flies, but he still remembered when the first United Imaging’s PET/CT was installed at Fujita Health University Hospital, the largest single medical facility in Japan.

Now the hospital has just equipped with another innovation from United Imaging, the High Resolution Digital PET/CT uMI 550. Professor Hiroshi Toyama, Chairman of the Radiology Department at Fujita Health University Hospital said, “I used to think that the digital PET/CT would have more noise than the non-digital one, but uMI 550 has totally changed my perception. Its performance greatly exceeds my expectation.”

uMI 550 is a popular state-of-the-art molecular imaging diagnostic system which calls every continents home with several dozens of installations across the world since it’s launch in 2018. The combination of the 84-ring PET and 80 slice CT makes it possible to achieve best-in-class image quality via 2.9mm LYSO silicon photomultiplier (SiPM). A wholebody scan can be obtained in as few as 4 beds within 8 minutes, which can significantly increase efficiency and improve patient comfort.
